Tenerife South Airport Information
Tenerife South Airport is the busiest of the two airports in Tenerife and also the seventh busiest of all the airports in Spain. You may also hear Tenerife South Airport being referred to as ‘Reina Sofia Airport’ or ‘Tenerife Sur’. Tenerife North is the other airport on the island that services Tenerife but is not as busy as Tenerife South in terms of passenger traffic which has over 8.5 million passengers passing through it each year.

Tenenife South Airport is well situated and provides easy access to some of the most popular holiday resorts on the South of the island. The popular resorts of Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje are all less than 20klms from the airport, which makes transfers to and from the resorts very easy and cost effective.
The resorts of Los Cristianos, play de las Americas and Costa Adeje are just three of the popular resorts that are close to the airport and which a large number of passengers wish to reach. Even the capital Santa Cruz is only 62 klms away from the airport which also make it very accessible from Tenerife South.

Tenerife South Airport is a very popular and busy airport throughout the year and as a result, has a very efficient Ground Support network in place. Bus number 111 departs from outside the main Arrivals terminal at the airport and leaves at regular intervals throughout the day (every 30 minutes at the time of writing) but it is best to check the timetables either before you travel or as at the airport once you arrive.
Getting From Tenerife South Airport To Tenerife North Airport
The bus service number 343 provides a direct connection between the two airports in Tenerife stopping at Puerto de la Cruz, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeja Station on route. Transfers from Tenerife south Airport to Tenerife North Airport take around 50 minutes. The bus leaves the airport every 80 minutes (at the time of writing).
Car hire is a popular option with many travellers as it provides transfer to and from the airport and also transport for the duration of their stay in Tenerife. There are several major car hire companies based at the airport and they all offer competitive price. The following car hire companies all have offices at the airport.

Taxis are available outside the airport terminal and the fares are determined on the distanced travelled. There is a minimum charge and there is also an additional charge for between 10pm – 6am and also at weekend. It is advisable to ask the taxi driver how much the fares will be before actually getting in the taxi.
There are parking facilities available at the airport that offer several different options ofr people wishing to park their car at the airport. These options include both Short term parking and Long term parking and there are sometimes offers available.
There are many airlines that service Tenerife South Airport and provide a large number of flights to and from a wide range of countries throughout the world. Several of the low budget airlines now service the airport and this means that there are generally some good deals to be found, especially if you book early.
Once passengers arrive at Tenerife South Airport, they will be required to disembark the aircraft either by using one of the airbridges that Ground Staff at the airport attach to the aircraft or by using the courtesy bus provided by the airport. Once inside the airport terminal passengers will be required to clear Security and then collect any luggage that they have Checked-In for their flight from the Baggage Reclaim area. After reclaiming their luggage, they can make their way through to the main Arrivals Lobby.
From the main Arrivals Lobby passengers can access the many forms of transport that are available for airport transfer to and from Tenerife South.
The Departures area is located on the Ground Floor at the airport and all flights departing from Tenerife South Airport depart from this area. The Departures Hall at the airport has 87 Check-In desks and if you are wishing to Check-In at the airport will need to make your way to the appropriate desk that is Checking-In your flight.
If you require tickets for your flight, you can find many of the airlines desks opposite the Check-In desks.
The main Departures Lounge is located on the First Floor of the airport and this is where you can relax and wait until your flight is ready for Boarding. To access the Departures lounge ‘Airside’ you will first be required to clear Security and Customs.

Passengers at the airport have a selection of shops to browse through all selling a selection of goods such as: Food, gifts, jewellery, perfumes and a wide range of Duty Free items.
Bars And Restaurants
The airport has several bars and restaurants to which passengers can purchase a wide selection of hot and cold food and a selection of beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
VIP Airport Lounge
The airport has a VIP Lounge (The Montaña Roja) and you will require to hold the appropriate boarding Pass gain to access. If you do not have the appropriate Boarding Pass, yo can purchase entrance via one of the Airport Lounge Programs.
